She Kills Monsters - Young Adventurers Edition

Mountainside High School Theatre and Thespian Troupe 8602 is proud to announce our spring production for May of 2022. We will be producing She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurers Edition.

She Kills Monsters is an amazingly beautiful play that has been one of the most produced plays across the country for several years since its publishing in 2011. It’s modern setting and relatable themes of self-discovery, dealing with death, bullying, and opportunity for underrepresented students to be seen and have their stories heard have made it a favorite for high school theatre programs.

From the publisher:  "She Kills Monsters tells the story of high schooler Agnes Evans as she deals with the death of her younger sister, Tilly. When Agnes stumbles upon Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister’s refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and ’90s pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all."

Mountainside Theatre is also incredibly excited to be partnering with the Mountainside Gender Sexuality Alliance for this production. This production provides a unique opportunity for community outreach and education about common themes that directly impact LGBTQ+ students. It also provides some much needed representation for LGBTQ+ students so that their stories and voices are seen on the stage. We could not be more excited for this collaboration.

Show dates are May 19 - 21st.
